Some art I'm doing for a friends album project 'The Wildlife Reserve'...the music has a space synth 80's feel with just enough organic sound to even it out. Anyways...here is one of many sketches I've done so far. It's constantly evolving...they'll be more posted as the project nears its finish. Click the pic to see it big.

Weekend Getaway

Our weekend getaway was amazing. We stayed in town but got two full days and one night free from our little Olive and Boston. I feel so relaxed right now as I type these words. It's amazing what some good sleep and time lounging can do for you. 

Saturday and Sunday was filled with:

/a few sit down coffee breaks broken up between Starbucks and Peets Coffee

 

/a pair of Levis bought at Levis

/lunch at a great Italian restaurant called Pasta Jays on Pearl Street in Boulder

/some trading at Goldmine Vintage of vintage Tees for a fuschia colored Wayne Newton Tee with an awesome sparkling 

eagle, a great 80's ski vest, and an amazing red

80's jacket that will take your breath away and rad 80's dress for Tess. (i'll post some shots of these great

finds.

/caught a flick called "Quantum of Solace"- which was awesome. Been waiting

for it since Casino Royale.

/had dinner at Cantina Laredo...great Mexican food!

/actually went to church together as husband and wife for the first

time since Boston was born 9 weeks ago! So refreshing! Can't wait

until next Sunday.

/gave Tess a first round of highlights in her hair.

/chilled, chilled and more chilled.

I am thankful for these two days more than I ever thought I'd be.

Silly kid peed through and soaked her pants so she just played in a dry diaper for a few minutes...its was like 50 degrees outside.

Another figgin sweet band: MGMT

MGMT. Some more really good psychedelic rock. Really one of the best albums I've ever listened to.  

So freakin catchy: Coconut Records

Another great music project I happened upon one day at work while looking for some inspiration and distraction. Coconut Records has become a favorite of mine. Jason Schwartzman is the dude behind the magic. You might recognize him from The Darjeeling Limited or I Heart Huckabees if you had  seen those great flicks. 

After discovering Coconut on myspace I quickly and too eaily purchased the album on Itunes with one click accuracy. (Itunes. Hate it and love it) 

So much variety on this album. You just have to tap your foot or nod your head in a rhythmic fashion. Listen to the subtle sounds in each song. Some will cause you to grab a partner and waltz, some are stripped acoustic/folk and some linger on the edge of being too poppy but then the perfect guitar tone comes alive to even out the weight and add some timelessness.  

I don't normally go for catchy stuff but...

First 120 Development.

So, I got four rolls back. There are some good pics among the 48. 

I learned some stuff. 

These don't have the over saturated color I was looking for since I realized that I need to shoot on Slide film and get it cross processed. Also, I need the lab to scan the negatives to disc for me so I don't have to scan my printed photos on my crappy scanner at work. Oh...and the lab crops wierd. 

I've got some color and some black and white. I posted all of them on my flickr page. Check em out and comment on what you like or don't like.

I'm all of a sudden really into photography, and even more so lomography. I picked up an old Diana+ a couple weeks ago and today I get to pick up a handful of rolls I just got developed. I can't wait. I think I might leave work early. I'll post'em all good or bad on my flickr page.

Diana+ snippet from wiki "The Diana camera is a simple, low-quality plastic-bodied box camera. The Diana takes sixteen 4 × 4 cm pictures on 120 film, leaving a large part of the film surface unused. Though often referred to as a toy camera, the term is somewhat misleading, as the Diana is fully capable of taking actual photographs. The term "toy camera" is often used to denote a very simple camera, and includes various basic vintage cameras as well. It is widely considered as an ideological predecessor of the 1980s Holga. Diana's are said to have a 50 % chance of light leaks & other photographic "problems," which give such "flawed" photos made by the camera an individualistic character."
